How to become a flower, 2026

Video for the Alevtina Avgustova brand.

Sevastopolis, 2021

This video is dedicated to the former hotel complex "Sevastopol" in Moscow. Hotels were built for the Olympic Games-80, but in the late eighties began to turn into an ethnic market. The surreal method is chosen here to achieve the effect of the most detached observation. The structure of the video resembles a dream or trip, with its inherent input, output, and decay.
Safe zone: air shafts of bomb shelters in a small town near Moscow
2020-2023

In times of peace, we don`t think about what we will do in times of war. What does that very safe place  next to the house of an ordinary Russian look like? Where he or she will hide from missile or tank fire?

Now Russia is waging a full-scale war in Ukraine. Some Russians support their country and are sure about the necessity of bombing peaceful cities. But where will these people be if war comes to their home? Where will they run?

This is a small reminder project so as not to forget what our safe zone really looks like.
Co-vision, 2020

Dear residents and guests of the Moscow region! The fight against coronavirus concerns each of us. We ask you to strictly observe the regime of self-isolation and social distance. Stay at home and take care of your loved ones. Leave your home only when absolutely necessary: to buy food and medicine. Be careful. The situation is difficult, but together we will get through it.

Red corner, 2022

The Red Corner — the most honorable place in the hut among Eastern Slavs in which there were icons. Usually, the red corner was facing southeast. In Orthodoxy, it’s considered an analogue of the altar. A person entering the hut first of all was baptized on icons in the red corner and then greeted the owners. The most honored guests were seated in the red corner.
My project is a reflection on the passing canon and its transformation in the modern world. It’s necessary to observe the hierarchy in the ‘classic’ red corner, and there are icons that must be present in the home iconostasis. But life’s changing and the attitude to canons too.
In modern red corners you can find not only icons but also many memorable (or random) items. The location is almost irrelevant, and no one is baptized by entering the house. However, such a corner is more personified and can tell a lot more about the owner of the house.

The purpose of my project is to compile a large photobook in the catalog form filled with red corners from all over Russia.

The project resulted in a group exhibition (curated by Sergei Bratkov) and a zine (in the collection of the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art).
Fence, 2020

It’s about people who don't have a choice.
Having grown up in disciplinary institutions, they often have no idea about the
opportunity for having a choice. But even if PNI wards know that they have the right to
live the other way, there is no real chance for leaving the boarding school without
help.
We can consider PNI as an apogee of power relations. Thus, through the system of
their (boarding schools) existence, we can observe how the modern Russian state
system functions on whole.

At the end of this project, I printed and pasted posters with images of boarding school pupils and texts in the center of Moscow.
